IONIS was born in the hills of the Itria Valley, straddling the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, a land of trulli, ancient farmhouses, vineyards, wines, and Baroque art; where tradition blends with a glorious food and wine heritage.
Salento is a region renowned for its winemaking culture, which Italy and Western Europe have come to know and appreciate through the purchase of enormous quantities of wine over time.
Today, wine culture has evolved alongside the generations, as wine is consumed differently, at different times, and certainly with consumers' increasingly demanding palates, which are continually refining and perfecting. Therefore, over the years, the demand for wine has inevitably changed as well, favoring higher-quality products.
The company was founded by Dr. Giulio Palmisano (Winemaker) in the mid-1970s. After forty years of experience in the wine sector, with national and international business relationships, both as a consulting winemaker and as an exporter of bulk wine, in 2008, thanks also to the support of his sons, Sergio and Mauro, the "IONIS" brand was created to continue the company, with the ambitious project of bottling and marketing the finest wines of Salento.
